My name is Max Molewijk, I am almost 21 years old and I am still a student. I have been practicing hand-balancing for about 3 years now. I started one day simply thinking that I didn’t have “that thing” that defined me or that made me different than the rest. I wanted to learn a skill that I could perfect in time as much as possible.
My friends describe me as focused, passionate, kind and humble. I think I'm just a normal guy, who stands on his hands a lot. Being the youngest coach of The Essential Workshops is pretty neat! But I'll tell you a little secret: I am also co-founder of The Essential Workshops. This achievement in particular is making me very proud!
I have been teaching different subjects (primarily free running) for a couple of years and I love helping people understand movements and reach their goals. I love to get technical about handstands and balance in general. To be able to help people reach that “a-ha” moment is simply what makes me happy!
I spent most of my training working on getting a good technique and a very straight handstand line and I quickly got ''obsessed''. After working on the straight line for a small year, I started meeting more hand-balancers and coaches and since then I started to train towards more advanced moves like the pike handstand, press to handstand and (more recently) things like one arm handstand.
